Wales defender Chris Mepham states Gareth Bale is right back to his best in the pitch that his anxieties that are off-pitch have ended.
Bale, who looked to be on his way out of Real Madrid during the summer before his move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning dropped through, has now found his way back into Zinedine Zidane’s strategies at the Bernabeu.
Mepham believes that the future of Bale appears to be resolved, he could begin putting in the performances everyone understands he can for Wales following a year for its national team.
“It is a great idea to see Gaz back out to the pitch performing,” Mepham said.
“He had a great deal of speculation over the summer and it’s good he’s got that attention back. When he was not getting the game-time at 12, it was hard.
“He probably came away with Wales which was his moment to shine and, unfortunately, he did not contribute with the goals everyone about him desires.
“After we lost the 2 games in Croatia and Hungary I watched him at the dressing room afterwards. He had been devastated, as we all were, but it only demonstrates how much it means .”
There seems to be a brand new optimism around the Welsh team, with a few exciting young players starting to have the chance.
Daniel James’ stock has skyrocketed since his transfer to Manchester United, scoring three goals in his four Premier League games to the Red Devils.
And David Brooks and Harry Wilson are with Mepham at club level using Bournemouth, and are becoming vital components to Eddie Howe’s side.
Thinks this will help alleviate the pressure placed to carry the side.
He explained:”It has been hard for Gareth having that pressure on you every match, to be the man to find the targets.
“That is why it’s a good idea to see different lads chipping in – Wilson, Brooks, if he had been in the squad, along with Daniel James.
“Hopefully this takes the pressure off Gareth and now we’ve good attacking options on Friday [against Azerbaijan].”
And while those players could take Bale’s pressure, they could potentially be carrying set-pieces off him.
Harry Wilson is becoming renowned for his free-kicks, bagging one from Manchester City earlier this season.
However, Mepham backs Champions League-winner and the Real Madrid man to keep the duty.
Mepham said:”it is a conversation I don’t need to be involved in!
“Both of them is able to make that moment of magic. Harry scored last week against Manchester City and it has been done several times by him, but then so has Gaz.
“If I am betting person I’d have money on Gaz bullying the younger lad from it”
